Tissue analysis. Removing a tissue sample (biopsy) from liver can help diagnose liver disease.


Treatment for liver disease depends on the diagnosis. It can be treated with lifestyle modifications, such as stopping alcohol use or losing weight, or with medications or surgery. Complicated or severe liver disease may ultimately require a liver transplant.


Nux vomica is indicated in sedentary, irritable, quarrelsome and easily angry people who are prone to drinking alcohol, rich spicy foods intake, use of quinine and other allopathic medicines. Alcoholism leads to fatty liver diease. Pain in the abdomen, especially a few hours after eating. Constipation with cravings for fatty and spicy food. Phosphorus is indicated in persons who are tall, slender, with fair complexion. Useful for fatty degeneration, enlargement, hard and maligning disease of the liver with soreness pain and jaundice. Pain aggravates while touching the liver region and by lying on the right side. Stools are grayish white. There is great distention and rumblings in the abdomen with great flatus and diarrhea. Cold sensation in the abdomen and feeling as if abdomen is empty and drawing inward. Likes cold things but vomits on becoming warm in the abdomen. Craves for ice-creams, juices and cold drinks

Chelidonium: is indicated in the fatty degeneration of liver when it is accompanied by pain in upper right abdomen, liver enlargement, constipation, jaundice, extreme fatigue. Right side of liver is affected, constant pain under the lower and inner angle of right scapula, dense yellow or white cover on the tongue with redness on its corners. The patient desires for hot drinks that cause vomiting. Very useful in gall bladder stone colic if above symptom exists.

Lycopodium: This medication is very effective in treating fatty liver disease, especially if accompanied with gastric issues and acidity. Bloating of the stomach, burning of the esophagus with pain in the upper right abdomen. Cravings for hot drinks and sweets. Liver is sensitive to touch with tense feeling over there. Dull and aching pains in the liver region. Fullness in stomach and abdomen (lower part) after a small quantity of food intake. Dropsy, due to hepatic disease. Pain shooting across lower abdomen from right to left.
