With the increasing urbanization the incidence of dengue has increased 30-fold in the past five decades, says the World Health Organization. Every year metropolitan cities are experiencing explosive outbreaks, so it is important to raise awareness and provide right information about the disease prevention & its management. Dengue is an acute viral infection with potential fatal complications. The dengue virus (DEN) comprises four distinct serotypes (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4). Among them, ?Asian? genotypes of DEN-2 and DEN-3 are frequently associated with severe disease accompanying secondary dengue infections. It causes a wide spectrum of illness from mild asymptomatic illness to severe fatal dengue haemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome (DHF/DSS). A small proportion of cases can develop into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs which need to be treated with early and effective replacement of plasma losses with plasma expander or fluid & electrolyte solution results in a favourable outcome in most cases. On the other hand Chikungunya is rarely fatal. Symptoms are generally self-limiting. It presents with fever frequently accompanied by debilitating joint pain and lasts for 2?3 days. But careful watch should be there as Chikungunya shares some clinical signs with dengue and can be misdiagnosed in areas where dengue is common. Personal protection and the environmental management of mosquitoes are important in preventing illness at individual or community level apart from actions taken by the government to resist vector- borne diseases. Various treatment options are available to tackle dengue & chikungunya fever along with auxiliary therapy. Homoeopathic system of medicine has a long record of success in the treatment dengue and chikungunya infection but in severe cases like dengue haemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome homeopathy is to be used as an adjuvant to standard care. Omeo D-Fvr Plus Medicated Syrup is a combination of homoeopathic remedies helpful for symptoms due to viral fever. Viral fever refers to a broad spectrum of conditions where viral infections are associated with elevations of body temperature. Headaches, body aches and a skin rash characterise most of these viral fevers. They may affect any age group, and are seen world-wide. The first line of management is the symptomatic treatment. The fever may be low grade or high grade and remittent. Inflammation of the pharynx, a running nose, nasal congestion, headache, redness of the eyes, cough, muscle and joint pains and a skin rash could be present. Some viral fevers are spread by insects, for example, arbovirus, can cause a bleeding tendency, which results in bleeding from the skin and several other internal organs and can be fatal. Indication: Helpful for symptoms due to viral fever.
